Nature in Art

In addition to the programme of regular exhibit changes, temporary exhibitions, artists in residence and art courses, Nature in Art organises a busy programme of special events, some being held during the day, others in the evenings. All are open to the public but most need tickets to be booked in advance as numbers are limited.
We cannot guarantee that tickets will be available on the door.
Free lunchtime talks do not need to be booked in advance (unless you are a group)
and no tickets are issued. Just come along!

A guide to the Totally Tactile exhibition.

For all evening events doors open 7pm with an opportunity to view the galleries until 7.30pm when a finger buffet is served. The event then follows. All evenings end by 9.30pm. Admittance is by ticket only as numbers are limited.

Soysambu – community conservation collaboration
An illustrated talk by Guy Combes
Guy is the son of the renowned wildlife artist Simon Combes who died in 2004.Guy is a very successful wildlife artist himself and since 2007 has been artist in residence at the Hiram Blauvelt Museum in New York. Like his father his paintings are published by Greenwich Workshop. Come and hear Guy talk about art and a conservation project close to his heart in Kenya, where he was born. £8.00

An illustrated talk by Dr David Trapnell
Chairman of Nature in Art Trust (A 21st Anniversary Event)
It was David who identified the gap in the publicly accessible collections that could be filled by the creation of a place like Nature in Art. He saw that the genre of art inspired by nature was undervalued and not given the exposure it deserved. This led him to establish Nature in Art Trust and the rest is history! Here he shares some personal reminiscences of some of the items in the collection. £8.00

Official opening of Egyptian Landscapes
More details on page 5. Come and meet Ikram Nosshi and Suzanne Ramses Wissa Wassef from the world renowned Ramses Wissa Wassef Centre in Egypt. A unique opportunity to enjoy these wonderful tapestries in the company of staff from the centre, so please come!

An illustrated talk by Mike Leach
Mike is one of the UK’s leading wildlife photographers and a renowned speaker. Here he shares stunning photographs and stories about his work with wolves. His images have been used in many magazines from National Geographic to the Sunday Times and in over 600 books worldwide.

A Passion for Nature -
A fascinating film telling the story of Sir Peter Scott, one of the first men to see the dangers threatening wildlife, and one of the first to do something about it. The film includes unique archive provided by Lady Scott. Shown to coincide with the Sir Peter Scott anniversary exhibition. It will be introduced by Paul Walkden (see back page ‘shop news’).
