Using stone

Natural stones are a little difficult to obtain. You can order them from natural stone-retailers. Purchase your stones from a supplier who is close to you to reduce transportation costs and difficulties.

Using wood

Gardens have numerous wooden features as it blends in quiet well in the environment and generally looks natural. It’s also easy to install and is relatively lighter than stone. Round wood, square-cut wood, planks for paths are normally pressure treated and thus are very durable. Avoid using cheap wood because it decays quickly or old railway sleepers as they contain oil.

Dwarf water lily, lotus, purple loosestrife (Lythrum saticaria) and mare’s tail

Water fringe (Nymphoides peltata), dwarf reed mace, water hawthorn and flowering rush (Butomus)


The plants should be cut back occasionally and irrigated at least once a month.
